Farewell To Russell Brand & Matt Morgan (Video/Audio)

Branded (Mountain/Molehill?)

I've listened to the Russell Brand radio show since it first started over on the fledgling (little) sister channel that was 6Music. Back when Trevor Lock was a co-host and I can still remember when Mr.Gee phoned in with his poetry which would become a regular fixture. Surely I wasn't the only one who thought that the events of late and the show which led to Russell tending his resignation was an overreaction? An overreaction which only the British are capable of carrying out with any success.

Russell Brand was persecuted in a witch hunt powered almost entirely by a sanctimonious and grossly disproportioned sense of fair play (which when stripped back could just as easily be envy)?

I have an extremely difficult time believing that ANY of the regular listeners to Russell Brand's Radio2 show were amongst those who complained as it was pretty much par for the course. Truth be known it was Jonathon Ross who overstepped the mark but as was pointed out in the subsequent furore and feigned disgust was that these are two personalities who are known for their risqué brand of humour. And the entire lack of malice that was present while the messages were being left in no way justifies the actions but it speaks volumes of the intent. And the remark that is the main source of the uproar wasn't meant as a slight on anyone other than Russell Brand.

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect was that only one or two people originally complained and when this was irresponsibly splashed across the tabloids then the British public vented their repressed animosity without actually hearing the broadcast and it appears that for the most part weren't even aware of the specifics regarding the dialogue. I guess there were no losers around at that particular time for the British public to champion and obviously none of our corrupt (by definition) politicians were taking backhanders or bed-hopping that week……

Russell Brand & Georgina Baillie

I feel I should express my sincere condolences to Matt Morgan as he was always the ‘voice of reason' as well as the butt of most of Russell's jibes and was in fact working at further cementing Russell's future on foreign soil.

While I don't actually know of Matt's physical well-being I don't doubt for a second that he thinks he's the victim of some malady or other, so get well soon Matt!!

And to everyone who played a part in bringing Russell's dulcet tones to the airwaves, I sincerely thank you.

And of course while regardless of what profession Georgina Baillie is involved with it in no way justifies the comments but there's no harm in seeing the shrinking violet (a.k.a. Voluptua) in action…..

Russell Brand Official Apology

Satanic Slut“I have apologised to Andrew Sachs for the rude messages I left on October 18 and he has graciously accepted.

As I only do the radio show to make people laugh I've decided that given the subsequent coverage I will stop doing the show.

I've loved working for the BBC and am very proud of the shows myself, Matt Morgan, Nic Philps, Mr Gee and Noel Gallagher have made and I apologise to all of them for damaging their careers - except Noel, whose band are doing quite well.

I got a bit caught up in the moment and forgot that at the core of the rude comments and silly songs were the real feelings of a beloved and brilliant comic actor and a very sweet and big hearted young woman.

Apologies are also owed to the loyal listeners of the show who enjoyed its shambolic spirit and anarchy and will be upset that it cannot continue.

I take complete responsibility and offer nothing but love and contrition and I hope that now Jonathan and the BBC will endure less forensic wrath.

Hare Krishna.”

Also, as further proof that this wasn't a premeditated act the phone-interview was supposed to take place a week earlier when David Baddiel was the guest co-host and the topic was touched on along with the fact that Ms Georgina Baillie was a member of the dance troupe called, “The Satanic Sluts.”

This was prompted by a chance-meeting when Baddiel visited Russell some time ago and upon arriving at chez Brand was confronted with Georgina Baillie who according to Baddiel instantly mentioned that on the off chance he knew Manwell of ‘Fawlty Towers' fame not to mention anything as it was her granddad!!

Way to keep things quiet, Georgie!!

Here's the clips in question, Baddiel & Brand, and of course Brand & Ross making those now infamous phone calls:

Finally I just want to say Kudos to Russell Brand for many, many reasons that have brought me happiness and caused much mirth over the last couple of years (since he was sacked from MTV for turning up the day after 9/11 dressed as Osama Bin Laden and introducing his heroin dealer to Kylie Minogue!!

Viva la revolution!! (And get out of Tibet !!)

Duffy - Mercy

Duffy – Mercy Lyrics

Yeah, yeah, Yeah
Yeah, yeah, Yeah
Yeah, yeah, Yeah
Yeah, yeah, Yeah

I love you
But I gotta stay true
My morals got me on my knees
I’m begging please stop playing games

I don’t know what this is
’Cause you got me good
Just like you knew you would
I don’t know what you do

But you do it well
I’m under your spell

You got me begging you for mercy
Why won’t you release me?
You got me begging you for mercy
Why won’t you release me?
I said release me

Now you think that I
Will be something on the side
But you got to understand
That I need a man
Who can take my hand, yes I do

I don’t know what this is.
But you got me good.
Just like you knew you would
I don’t know what you do

But you do it well
I’m under your spell

You got me begging you for mercy
Why won’t you release me?
You got me begging you for mercy
Why won’t you release me?

I said you’d better release yeah, yeah, yeah

I’m begging you for mercy
Yes why won’t you release me
I’m begging you for mercy

You got me begging
You got me begging
You got me begging

Mercy, why won’t you release me?
I’m begging you for mercy.
Why won’t you release me?
You got me begging you for mercy

I’m begging you for mercy
I’m begging you for mercy
I’m begging you for mercy
I’m begging you for mercy

Why won’t you release me yeah, yeah?
Break it down

Raised in Nefyn on the Llyn Peninsula with her twin sister, Katy, her parents divorced when she was 10, and she moved to Pembrokeshire with her mother and sisters, while her father remained in Nefyn. Her early interest in singing was apparently inspired by her father John Duffy’s videotape of the 1960s television rock show Ready Steady Go!

Duffy returned to Nefyn when she was 15, and started singing in various local bands. After being involved in an unsuccessful music project in Switzerland, Duffy returned to Wales in 2003 and auditioned for Wawffactor, a Welsh alternative to Pop Idol on S4C where she was expected to win, but eventually came second to winner Lisa Pedrig.

Duffy was elected president of the Students Union at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, before transferring to study at the University of Chester, Chester, England where she built up a following in Alexanders, a local jazz and blues club. She recorded a three-songs-EP in Welsh in 2004 and also appeared on two tracks on the album See You in the Morning by Mint Royale while working as a waitress and in a fishery. Owen Powell of Catatonia and Richard Parfitt of Newport band 60ft Dolls, introduced Duffy in August 2004 to former Public Image Ltd. member turned music manager and part-owner of Rough Trade Records Jeanette Lee.

Lee moved Duffy to Crouch End in London, and orchestrated a meeting between Duffy and Suede’s ex-guitar player Bernard Butler, who then co-wrote with her and helped create a sound that has been compared to Dusty Springfield. Together with another rising star, Adele, Duffy was the most prominent of the so-called “new Amys” (a reference to singer Amy Winehouse): for example, under the sub-title, “The New Amys”, Adam Thompson wrote in The Times on 30 December 2007 that:

“Duffy, Gabriella Cilmi and Adele lead the charge to be the next Winehouse. First sightings seem to indicate that they are all bright-eyed innocents with bags of talent — a familiar starting point, no?”

Contracted to A&M Records during 2007, on 23 November 2007, Duffy performed on the BBC2 television show Later with Jools Holland, which resulted in a second appearance on the related New Year’s Eve show Hootenanny, on which, among other things, she performed with soul legend Eddie Floyd. On 22 February 2008, she appeared on Later with Jools Holland for a third time and performed “Rockferry”, “Mercy” and “Stepping Stone”.

She also appeared on the BBC2 television programme “The Culture Show” on 23 February 2008 and performed “Mercy”. In January 2008, she came second in the annual BBC 6 Music poll of industry experts Sound of 2008, for acts to emerge in the coming year. In Wales she seemed set to become the “pop” equivalent of mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins. A number of commentators have remarked on her unaffected personality and natural charm.

Butler and his musical partner David McAlmont, and a number of other musicians have formed the backbone of Duffy’s band for her debut album entitled Rockferry, which was released on Polydor on 3 March 2008.

After releasing a debut limited edition single, “Rockferry” in November 2007, Duffy then released a follow-up single, “Mercy”, which went straight to number one on download sales on 17 February 2008. Duffy is the first Welsh female to achieve a number one pop single in the past 25 years. “Mercy” spent a second week at number one on 24 February 2008, and set its full physical release on 25 February 2008.

A review of her first major tour’s stop at the respected King Tuts venue in Glasgow noted “her quiet assurance obviously stems from talent. When she let loose, her voice was awesome.

She is currently in the number 1 spot on Siart C2 with her Welsh language EP entitled simply ‘Aimee Duffy’. Duffy confirmed in an interview that “Warwick Avenue” will be the next single from her #1 album “Rockferry”.
