Elbow – Amerie Cover – 1 Thing – Radio1 - Jo Whiley's Live Lounge 26 Aug 2005

I feel I must let this, “Amerie” cover see the light of day. In my opinion it was an absolute travesty that it wasn't included on the Radio1 Live Lounge Album, as surely it was one of the defining moments as well as been one the most talked about, right up there with the Arctic Monkeys and their Girls Aloud Cover of, “Love Machine”

They covered Destiny's Child on their previous sortie to Maida Vale. Their acoustic cover of which (Independent Women) was turned into a popular web animation

But this time their cover was an extraordinary version of, “1 Thing” by of Amerie. Complete with Akon/Chipmunk style vocals! And straight after the show the band upped sticks and went straight to the Reading festival where they were performing.
