Ray Lamontagne Live Performances & Watch Tree Top Flyer Video (Stephen Stills)

We've already discussed Ray Lamontagnes' humble beginnings, i.e. Ray Lamontagne worked in a shoe factory for 4 years before waking up one day with "Treetop Flyer" by Stephen Stills on his clock radio. He missed work that day to get a copy of the album and then promptly left his job to pursue a career as a musician.

“So I quit my job. I knew I wanted to sing, which was really crazy, because I never even talked to anybody! I just had this feeling that it was somewhere inside me, and I had to find it and let it out. So I learned the songs on that record and started listening to Crosby, Stills & Nash, then I discovered Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Ray Charles, Otis Redding. I would spend hours just listening to records. Later, I got very intense about singing; I would just sing and sing, and hurt and hurt, because I knew I wasn't doing it right. Over a period of years I taught myself to sing from the gut and not from the nose.”

There seems to be a homely, friendly theme running throughout the entire album and the recently released, “Trouble” is a blues story worthy of the greats……..

So I decided to re-post as a sort of an upgrade if you like, the main reasons being that I have finally got hold of a LIVE video version of, “Tree Top Flyer” the influential Stephen Stills song

And also due to the recent UK appearance of Ray Lamontagne on the Annual Jools Holland Hootenanny (New Years Eve 2007) I have more footage!!

MP3 Lyris for There is something of a new interest in the song, “Tree Top Flyer”, the reason being Stephen Stills & Tree Top Flyer specifically has very recently being quoted as a direct influence for another new songwriter, Ray Lamontagne.

As stated in the previous post , Ray Lamontagne worked in a shoe factory for 4 years before waking up one day with "Treetop Flyer" by Stephen Stills on his clock radio. He missed work that day to get a copy of the album and then promptly left his job to pursue a career as a musician.

Stephen Stills was born in Dallas , Texas on January 3, 1945 to a military family. Moving around as a child, he developed an interest in blues and folk music.
