Listen to Jamie-T, “Calm Down Dearest,” Jamie-T & Edith Bowman Radio1 Interview (Tue 05 th December 2006)
Edith Bowman, who currently hosts the afternoon show on (greatly influential) BBC Radio1, currently has Jamie-T as her single of the week (top-rated). That is the week commencing Monday 4 th December.
And when Jamie-T was interviewed by Edith Bowman live on Radio1 this afternoon (Tue 05th December 2006). He confirmed that, “Calm Down Dearest,” will be released on the 15 th January, which we already knew.
BUT, Jamie-T also announced that on the 15 th of January he will be hosting Zane Lowe's Radio1 evening show, which should prove interesting!!
Jamie-T also provides rare insight into the meaning of the lyrics for his next release, “Calm Down Dearest,” Jamie explains that it stems from watching several of his friends on a self-destruct mission, spiralling down into the murky depths of desperation. Fuelled by alcohol & drugs (cocaine being a major player if the lyrics are anything to go by) unfortunately this is evidently just a sign of the times and also a sign of the huge part that the social/recreational drug culture currently plays in modern day Britain .
Also a quick reminder that Jamie-T's album, “‘White Socks Black Shoes” is released through Virgin on the 22 nd of January, so we can expect to see quite a bit more of Jamie-T as he does the publicity circuit.
And hopefully the album will have enough of an impact to affect the mainstream as, “If You Got The Money” charted at 13 then quickly slipped into obscurity and, “Sheila” entering the UK single chart in the twenties.
Both incredibly disappointing (from a personal view) entries for an artist who I firmly believe will be around for years to come.
