The View, Listen to MP3 : Band History & MP3 Song Lyrics (Wasted Little DJ's)
The View, Listen to MP3 : Band History & MP3 Song Lyrics (Wasted Little DJ's)
The View are a four piece indie rock/punk rock band from Dryburgh, an estate in Dundee in Scotland . They consist of Kyle Falconer on Lead Vocals, Guitar and Peter Reilly on Lead Guitar, Kieren Webster on Bass, Vocals and Steven Morrison on Drums.
Members of the band attended St. John's High School , a Roman Catholic Secondary School in Dundee . Apparently whilst in attendance, they performed mainly covers at school talent contests.
Everything from Squeeze to The Sex Pistols!!
They then moved in to a little pub in the, Menzieshill district of Dundee, not too far from their native Dryburgh. The pub was named The Bayview and hence the name of the band was born. Unfortunately this was short lived allegedly due to Kyle of the band riding a scooter along the bar of the pub!!
So they moved onwards and upwards to a new pub called The Doghouse which is a well respected live music venue, also located in Dundee 's city centre this proved a pivotal point in the bands history as it was here that they first came to the attention of the music industry. Most notably local music promoter John –Lemuria- More, (who was also Entertainments Manager at The Doghouse).
John More introduced the band to current manager, Grant Dickson, and record producer, Robin Wynn Evans, and the three worked together with The View under the name of John's existing promotions company, Lemuria. Grant and Robin later split from John to form, Two Thumbs. Both Two Thumbs and Lemuria continued to work with The View following the split with Two Thumbs taking on band management.
The band are currently signed to 1965 Records and their debut single, "Wasted Little DJs", was released 7 August 2006. The single charted at number 15 in the UK singles charts on Sunday 13th August 2006. (See post immediately below this one)
The View, Radio1 & Babyshambles
(Well, Pete Doherty!!)
Just before a Babyshambles gig Pete Doherty was among a number of people who watched The View busking outside the venue. Pete Doherty asked the band to play a set in support of his own band's performance that same night!!
A few months later Doherty then asked the The View to support a national Babyshambles tour. This was to the first step on the ladder of success for The View. Then On 27 February 2006, drummer Steve was arrested with Pete Doherty, a notorious hell rasier for driving the wrong way down a one-way street in Birmingham .
Then Radio1 stepped in and The View played BBC Radio 1's One Big Weekend in Dundee on 14 May 2006 and this was followed, soon after, by their second major festival appearance at T in the Park on 8 July 2006.
Still with Radio1 the single was the Colin and Edith show's record of the week for week commencing Monday, 10 July 2006 and entered the BBC Radio 1 daytime playlist on 12 July 2006. From this point they have never looked back and on 9th August 2006, they featured on the Zane Lowe show on BBC Radio1, with a live session and interview.
